Friendship & eyewear revolution

Lina and Dan, two individuals from different walks of life, joined forces to shake up the eyewear industry. They met in September 2019 while pursuing master’s degrees at the University of Chester.

Lina, with a financial background, dreamed of starting her own business. Dan brought over 20 years of optical industry experience to the table. Their shared passion for eyewear and complementary skills sparked a strong friendship and an ambitious vision.

March 2020: Turning lockdown into opportunity

When the global pandemic paused their studies, Lina and Dan saw and seized an opportunity. They combined Lina’s financial expertise with Dan’s deep industry knowledge to create Pop Specs, an eyewear brand focused on affordable, stylish and speedy service.

Their ambition was to transform eyewear shopping into a fun, quick and accessible experience for everyone—no hefty price tags, no tedious waits and no dull designs.

May 2021: Pop Specs takes off

By May 2021, Pop Specs launched its first kiosk in the Trafford Centre. Offering high-quality spectacles ready in just 20 minutes, the brand quickly gained a loyal following. Lina and Dan’s commitment to affordability and innovation has revolutionised the eyewear experience, earning them overwhelming support as they continue to challenge industry norms.

Their vision for Pop Specs was simple yet transformative

They wanted to provide customers with a seamless, affordable, and enjoyable eyewear shopping experience. No more breaking the bank for quality glasses. No more long waits for prescription eyewear. And certainly, no more dull and boring frames.
